VAGRANT, Atlantis 400 designed by Gilberg Caroff, dubble chine steel hull, centreboard, twin rudders, buit at Dujardin Shipyard (France).

The first owner, from Brittany, bought a bare hull and deck assembly which he then equipped and fitted by himself.

This remarkable achievement has been carried out paying great attention to details and quality and resulted, after 4 years, in a sailboat
not only superbly designed in her accomodations plan, but also extremely well finished, something one can only achieve for oneself.

With her first owner, VAGRANT crossed the Atlantic ocean towards Venezuela, eventually ending up in Le Marin in Martinique which became
her home port for several seasons, enjoying cruises in the area or leaving the boat ashore at Carenantilles shipyard.

Very experienced and skillfull as one can immediately appreciate by looking to the boat details, the first owner gave VAGRANT
the level of maintenance the boat deserved, not paying too much attention to his time or to budget considerations,
in order to keep the boat in pristine condition.

This is how I found the boat at this yard when the owner was forced to sell for health reasons.

Since the first time I came across the boat in December 1999, I decided to buy her and have made every effort since,
looking after the boat
with the same kind of approach, uplifting her or replacing whatever needed, season after season (see details below).

In acting as such, VAGRANT drove me through immense pleasure undertaking many cruises in absolute safety.

Beyond proven seaworthiness, the design and the strongness of the structure, the accomodations and the equipments make
the Caroff design a true long distance cruiser capable of staying out of shore with lots of self support.

The lockers, drawers, etc. are as big as numerous : from memory I can list more than 75 of them... certainly forgetting some.
The deck saloon concept, including a huge galley at the upper saloon level,
is a major safety factor as well as providing tremendous comfort, at sea or at anchor.
This also drains lots of light inside, which combines with the "open" inside concept to achieve a true liveaboard pleasure,
enhancing at the same time the exceptional space inside the accomodations.

Last but certainly not least, the technical equipments intelligently designed are key to safety and provide increased autonomy under sail.
The 24 V DC electrical network feeded through various sources of energy (dedicated alternator, propeller shaft alternator,
windmill, solar panels, shore power charger) really allow cruising without paying too much attention to shore connections constraints.

I have now decide to sell the boat, timing to be agreed upon.
